“Recycling”, the word conjures up images of responsibility, sustainability and a healthy respect for the environment. And rightly so. But of fun? Not so much.
But what if it was fun? Would more people recycle? Would people be able to overcome their inertia and try to "do the right thing"? The folks in this video tried to find out.
As they discovered, making tasks that we should do fun, gets a lot more people doing them. This is a very powerful idea, and has been tried out multiple times, in other contexts as well. (Tom Sawyer's delegation of the painting of his aunt's fence comes to mind).
How does one go about creating such a project? Some of you may be familiar with this video- A simple, and fun way to get people to exercise:
At Net Impact we believe that getting people more involved and getting them to have fun while being socially and environmentally responsible is a great concept, and so are launching a new initiative called the Good Fun! Institute.
Our first Innovation Workshop, in April, will be focused on this concept. We look forward to brainstorming fun ideas with you then building something truly amazing for implementation in Austin!
