Dig into Austin's Zero Waste Plan

Net Impact Austin's picture
Net Impact Austin is proud to present the future of carbon neutral waste disposal in an informative and entertaining presentation on Wednesday, October 22nd. The presentation will be followed by an open discussion period; bring your questions for the City!

Reduction of our carbon footprint and protecting the environment is a paramount goal for the 21st century. In recent studies, researchers have concluded that one of the fastest ways to realize carbon neutrality is to redistribute solid waste from the landfill to industries that can reuse, recycle, or compost this waste. There are a number of benefits for the business community as well: reducing landfill bound waste will create nearly 2000 new jobs, reduce costs for manufacturers and distributors, and increase sustainability within our communities and businesses.

Please join us to learn how this aggressive undertaking will affect our everyday lives, both personally and professionally. Jill Mayfield, our featured speaker, will present on the concept, the challenges, the effects and the benefits of this exciting initiative. Jill, spokesperson for the City of Austin’s Solid Waste Services, having formerly served as Marketing Representative for Austin Energy’s Green Building Program and Public Information Specialist for the City’s Environmental and Conservation Services Department, has many years of experience in the greening of Austin.
